Making a donation
The McWhirter Foundation (Registered Charity No. 270695) can advise you on the most convenient and tax-efficient methods of making a gift that will help us continue our work.
All cheques, of whatever value, enable the Foundation to recover the tax paid by donors from the Inland Revenue. If you wish to contribute in this way, please download a
Gift Aid Declaration and return it with your cheque. Using this form allows higher rate tax payers to claim relief against income tax or capital gains tax on their donation.
Alternatively, you may wish to use a charitable account in which case no tax is recoverable by the Foundation so there is no need to sign a Gift Aid Declaration.
Corporate gifts are also most welcome. It is also possible to make donations via ‘payroll giving’ and making gifts of listed shares and securities. The McWhirter Foundation
can provide details on any of these schemes.
The most helpful way for you to support The Foundation is to make regular gifts over an agreed period. By asking the Foundation for a form combining a banker’s order and the appropriate Gift Aid Declaration you will also enable the Foundation to recover tax on the payments.
