Please support us
The McWhirter Foundation relies on the generosity of our supporters to hold the Dicey Conference each year. When we do not have a corporate sponsor, this means that the costs have to be covered by individual donations, our fundraising efforts and, as a last resort, from the limited capital of the Foundation. The costs of accommodating and feeding more than 80 sixth formers for a couple of days, as well as the tutors and speakers, are met by the Foundation. Whilst the Citizens Awards dinner is covered by the ticket price, the awards themselves, and the cost of travel and accommodation for the award winners is not.
Corporate Sponsorship
The Dicey Conference provides a unique educational opportunity and can change a young person’s entire educational career. Companies and institutions that are able to support educational charities and would like to discuss the opportunity to sponsor a Dicey Conference at Trinity College, Oxford are invited to contact us directly.
The Foundation is happy to welcome small corporate parties (of up to about forty people) for our annual Awards Dinners. This has proved a unique and successful experience in the past and we invite you to contact us to discuss the options, should this be of interest.
Private Donations
The McWhirter Foundation has minimal overheads, meaning that any financial help you are able to give us will go a very long way. For instance, a donation of a few hundred pounds will help us accommodate an award winner in London for the evening and overnight stay whilst they receive a Citizens Award. Two hundred and fifty pounds will sponsor one sixth form delegate to the Dicey Conference. For every thousand pounds we receive, we are able to increase the number of Citizens Awards awards we make, and acknowledge and reward acts of outstanding courage and good citizenship. There are always many more deserving cases than we are able to acknowledge each year.
